Top 10 Interview Questions in Medical School Application



The admission interview in medical school is to check your desire to pursue medicine. To be prepare for that medical school interview, below are the top 10 interview questions and what is meant to be measured in the interview.

1. Why do you want to become a physician?
This is a classic questions to explore your passions.

2. Would you please describe your self.
This is an open-ended question that allows you the freedom to express your positive traits and some  adversities you were able to overcome to get over where you are.

3. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
The interview if you have thought about your career goals and if you have an insight of what you want to do in the future. How much hold do you have in designing your future.

4.  Do you know what you want to specialize in?
 The interview wants to find out if you have thought about your future career as a doctor and what you want to do with your career. There is no right and wrong answer to this question. And the specialty you mentioned here is still not final and you may change your mind later on.

5 & 6. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
Here the interviewer, what to find out if the applicant has an insight of  oneself.

7. Where else are you applying?
The interviewer here checks the strength of your intention of attending that school

8. What are your experiences with the medical profession?
The interview wants to determine whether or not  you have experience in the medical field and what was the impact of that experience in your decision to proceed to medical school.

9. What are your hobbies and outside interests?
This questions is to check your well-roundness. Go ahead and share the uniqueness of your personality.

10. What is the biggest challenge facing medicine today?
The interviewer wants to determine if you have thought about the bigger issues affecting the practice of medicine and what your role would be in the future.

As with all interview, it concludes with the interviewer asking if you any comments or questions. A good question to ask is to find out what is the next step in the application process after the interview. You can even ask about your chances of getting into medical school. Such questions further strengthens your show of interest in pursuing medicine.
